”…their strength is to sit still” [Isaiah 30:7 KJV]

This is the ‘good news’ – pressure that brings stress finds purpose in stillness.  Whatever the problem the problem has power within it.   Stress will either detonate the problem into destruction or develop stress into strength.   “One of the ways in which man brings the most trouble upon himself is by his inability to be still”.  [Pascal]

Isaiah tells us that by waiting on the Lord; [being still] we will mount on wings like eagles.  Eagles are majestic birds with remarkable vision.  Scientists believe their vision may be eight times sharper than that of humans.  Its vision that causes you to see the Lord in the problem; you see the big picture and use the power to turn the problem into possibility; the secret to finding strength in the midst of stress is being still!

Goliath roared his challenge to Saul, “Choose a man… if he is able to fight and kill me, we will become your subjects; but if I overcome him and kill him, you will become our subjects and serve us.”  Either you overcome the problem or the problem will overcome you!  Life gives us choices, but God gives us strength to pick up the gauntlet and overcome.   “Those that wait [are still] will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”  [Isaiah 40:31]

“Pressed into knowing no helper but God; Pressed into loving the staff and the rod. Pressed into liberty where nothing clings; Pressed into faith for impossible things. Pressed into tasting the joy of the Lord. Pressed into loving a Christlife outpoured”—V.Raymond  Edman—The Disciples of Life.
