“So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place…” [2 Peter 1:19]

Many today do not believe in new testament prophets or the prophetic word, but according to this word from Revelation 19:10 “The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”.  Every person that testifies of Jesus Christ is doing so under the anointing of a prophetic spirit!  So what do you do when someone has a prophetic word?

Glad you asked – others have asked the same thing.  “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?”  [Deuteronomy 18:21]  The answer is clear.  “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken.”

The answer is simple.  Do nothing!  Watch, wait and see.  We cannot be distracted by what is being said from such a multitude of voices.  While we listen and as Peter said ‘pay attention’ we must follow the example of Jesus who said, “How is it that you had to look for Me?  Did you not see and know that it is necessary as a duty for Me to be in My Father’s house and occupied about My Father’s business?” [Luke 2:49 AMP]

The answer is satisfying.  While you are waiting and watching become more intimate with Jesus Christ who is the spirit of prophecy and the truth will be revealed to you – you will receive the prophetic word necessary in your life, while continuing to do the work of the Lord.
