”By faith, Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. “ [Hebrews 11:8]
The second attitude of faith is the attitude of adventure—the stirring in Abraham’s heart prepared him to receive into his spirit the childlike attitude of adventure. There’s a thrill in responding and following the call of God—much of the past must be left behind but God fills the willing and obedient heart with a sense of anticipation of good things. This action of obedience is the very trigger that unwraps the gift of faith and fashions the steps that are taken. From God’s perspective it’s a standard gift that waits for all those called and chosen by God. The Psalmist said, “He fashions their hearts individually; He considers all their ways”
It’s not really faith if you can see beyond the next step and its often necessary for those following Christ to take the way to which the voice of God is calling him without knowing what the consequences will be. But God compensates with this wonderful ‘knowing’ that the One that called is the One that will provide, protect and make His Presence known along the way.
This morning you may have been following Christ and listening to His call for many years but the principles and process of God are continually active—they are the yeast that cause life to increase, the attitude of adventure to be new every morning and the influence that effects the lives of those that willing watch and walk along side.
