What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith  but has no deeds?  Can such faith save him? “   James 2:14

The question is how do you keep moving forward when navigation is tricky and the negatives of this world would pull you back, taunt you, mock you, and do every conceivable thing to hinder you from catching the wind and taking flight?

It’s time to settle the past! You get used to that in which you get stuck.  The Israelites got so used to slavery that, when they put distance between them and Egypt, they began to think slavery was a good thing (Exodus 16:3).

The past can become a museum in the mind: you wander down the corridors of time and begin to want what used to be. It can become a mausoleum; you can die there.  You wear the grave clothes and live in grief or the past.  Conversely, the past can be a mentor – a great teacher—you learn from it and grow.

Years ago I fought the fight of addiction to smoking.  I prayed and prayed, but nothing happened until finally I heard, “Exchange the negative for a positive.”  That principle helped me begin to run.  Exchanging the negative impact of smoke for the positive impact of fresh air and exercise was the bridge to catching the wind of the Spirit.  It broke the addiction and released the gift of music.  Singing became a source of ministry.

If there is any one secret of success in catching the wind, it is this: life will often hand you a lemon—learn to accept the lemon and make lemonade–exchange the negative for a positive!
