“Light, space, zest – that’s God! So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.” (Psalm 27:1 The Message)
Now that is confidence with a capital C. I like to think of the word confidence defined as …being confident in the one you confide in! This particular One not only spoke light into existence, but He is the Light. He not only created space… he became the ultimate ‘spaceman’. He moves through and has authority over all dimensions, including time, space, energy and matter!
The Psalmist knew what it was like to ‘run for his life’, “but,” he said; “when vandal hordes ride down ready to eat me alive, those bullies and toughs fall flat on their faces.” (Ps. 27:2) If our children were taught the confidence found in God perhaps schools could concentrate on ‘real learning’. David went on to say; “When besieged, I’m calm as a baby. When all hell breaks loose, I’m collected and cool.” (Ps. 27:3)
Has the light been turned on this morning? Are you getting the picture? This is no ‘milk-toast’ God we serve. He’s here with us, fighting our battles for us and His faith is building us up in confidence. The truth is, “The great object of the enemy of our souls is to make us fling away our confidence in God; to do this is nothing less than spiritual suicide. God expects His children to be so confident in Him that in a crisis they are the ones upon whom He can rely.” (Oswald Chambers)
Confidence is not necessarily seen in action, confidence is an attitude of heart that says; “I am confident of this, that he who began a good work in you (me) will carry it on to completion…” (Phil. 1:6)
Today remember whatever ‘hell’ maybe breaking out around you and whoever may be ‘in your face’, stand firm in the confidence that God is in you and for YOU!
