”The Lord called Samuel a third time…”  [1 Samuel 3:8]

Three times God called Samuel without Samuel knowing it was God, until God used man to give him direction and understanding.

There’s something about the number ‘3’ that should open our understanding to the Trinity of God.  Here are a few things to meditate on this morning.

In the story of Peter [Acts 10]  he was waiting for a meal to be cooked when he fell into a trance. Suddenly a vision appeared ‘3’times—a voice spoke ‘3’ times. Prior to that on the day before, a centurion named Cornelius had a vision…at ‘3’.   Following Peter’s  vision ‘3’ men sent by Cornelius appeared at the gate of Peter’s house. And the men gave Peter direction and understanding.

Intriguing use of the number ‘3’ and the power thereof….

But then it was at the ‘3rd. hour the crucifixion of Jesus began, ‘3’ hours later darkness fell on the earth; ‘3’ hours later Christ…”…breathed his last.” [Mark 15:25,33-37] and as we all know it was on the ‘3rd’ day that Jesus rose from the grave!

There are many more ‘3’s in the scriptures but the greatest is  God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit—when life is surrendered to these ‘3’, then in accordance to John 14:23  “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”  The power of God flows through those that have all ‘3’ living with them and they shall be vessels that bring resurrection and restoration to mankind.
