”A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, …fled naked, leaving his garment behind.”   [Mark 14:51-52]

New seasons like new relationships grow through a perpetual cycle of forming, storming and norming!   In this New Year expect that life like a beautiful rose must have thorns.  It was created that way, it protects the growth process—if you hold fast to your commitment—you’ll come through ‘smelling like a rose’!

The young man in question has no name—he lost his covering or identity when he ran—as a follower of Christ he was covered by his garment and known as a ‘follower of the way!’  Jesus said… “Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master, If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also….”  [John 15:20a] Without the shadow of the Master the young man lost everything he had even his covering.

Persecutions will come to all those that follow Christ.  “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted…”  [2 Timothy 3:12]  Recognize them!  You may not have a gun at your head—you may not be chased by terrorist, but even the least of servants are tempted to leave their post when the going gets tough.

The secret of being secure is the power of preparedness.  ”When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized, that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus”  [Acts 4:13]

You won’t loose your shirt or your garment if you stay at your post in fellowship with Jesus Christ.  Grip your post with Praise and watch God’s power flow.”
