“…Don’t look behind you or stop anywhere in the whole valley; escape to the mountains lest you be consumed.”  [Genesis 19:17 AMP]

“Was it hard to turn loose of those things” said my friend, knowing that I had recently made some fairly difficult decisions.  I thought a moment and said, ‘no’ it wasn’t.  I went on to say when younger in faith it had been very difficult to turn loose and in my heart struggled greatly, but I had grown and I had learned.

What did I learn about this ever forward moving journey with God?

Once a direction is given by the Holy Spirit at that moment He is also the power to act on the decision and speaking that decision out releases the power of obedience.

That the more quickly you move in the direction that God has given the further away you are from the pull of the past that can so easily entrap you.

That you cannot look in two directions at the same time, which ever direction you are facing it will consume you!  Don’t look in the rearview mirror.

Every step of obedience in the right direction is a step of greater freedom and the joy of obedience is the strength you need to walk right into your new beginnings!

What do you need to turn loose of today?  What strings are daring to pull you back?  What negativity would consume you?  Do as Paul did “Forgetting those things that are behind… I press on to toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  [Philippians 3:14-14]
