In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”  (Psalm 5:3 NIV)

A group of us were gathered in the countryside for an early morning prayer time.  It was just before dawn, still and quiet and very beautiful.  The tops of the mountains were mostly hidden, the clouds covering their peaks like night time blankets.  Below the foothills gave way to rolling meadows and the horses stood as if waiting for the break of day to banish the swirling mists.   A friend spoke and shared about the journey she and her husband had just taken to Florida.  She said that where they had been when day breaks forth it climbs above the flat horizon quickly and suddenly the day is begun.  Not so here in the North Georgia Mountains there is a slow unfolding of the day as the swirling mists bow to the light of morning.  It brought us back to the truth that God’s plan for man is an unfolding process.  Our destiny is only truly known as it is lived day by day.

In The Message this word is written like this, “Every morning you’ll hear me at it again.  Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend.”  Three things we can activate toward reaching our destiny.

Become habitual – a habit is something that is repeated over and over again.  Keep on asking, “…and it will be given to you.”  Keep on seeking, “…and you will find.”  Keep on knocking, “…and it will be opened to you.”  (Matthew 7:8)

Don’t hold back – put everything before God and into His hands.  “Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done: He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon.” (Psalm 37:5-6 TM)

Expect to see His Presence – let your attitude be one of expectation. “God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you – God is there, ready to help…” (Hebrew 13:5 TM)

Today remember He holds the dawn of every day in His hands.
