“Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?” (1 Corinthians 6:15)
You are not alone. You are never alone. You are a part of a spiritual body known as “the Body of Christ.”
You are either joined at the “hip” of another human being or joined at the heart of Jesus Christ. What is it that reveals the truth? Ask yourself this question: who do you rely upon for decision making, relinquish your body to, (which is the need for deep intimacy), or release your emotions to? Who or what is your master? The dependency and priorities of life are always easily discerned: one is spiritual; the other is fleshly.
What of the sexual relationship? That’s easy. It is a gift given for holy matrimony. The difference between holy matrimony and today’s term marriage is that Christ is at the center and both parties depend upon Him, being one in Christ before being one in the flesh!
The most important act in God’s plan of procreation is that His family is covered and parented by those who know their God and raise families who follow their father’s faith. What of spiritual “freedom”? Paul answers that this way, “Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me—but I will not be mastered by anything” (1 Corinthians 6:12).
The covenant of God is a holy covenant and covers all those whose commitment is to Him and then to one-another. It is observed by others as a three strand cord (relationship) that cannot easily be broken.
