“…God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;…” [Genesis 2:15]
From the beginning freedom was given to choose, not between good and evil, man didn’t know what good and evil was – he only knew God. Freedom was for choosing to obey God’s Will or self-will. Freedom is a matter of the heart.
Whatever decisions are made the fruit will reveal whose will is being activated. The fruit of freedom that chooses to obey God is, ”…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – against such there is no law” [Galatians 5:22] Nothing can put it into bondage – nothing can dominate it – nothing can deceive it or destroy it, the heart that is obedient is the heart that is free!
When God spoke to Adam whom He chose to make both male and female, He gave each the authority and responsibility to choose – no man male or female chooses for another. To choose God’s will is to love him and to know Him. The more you know Him the more you love Him and the more you love Him, His love unleashes His power in your life.
Life in God is a position received by choice and a process maintained by choice. The birth of freedom resulted in man’s choice causing him to fall into a pit of darkness. Christ came to restore our ‘choice’, love lifts us out of the darkness and raises us up into the Kingdom of love.
It is no easy choice. If self-will is chosen, man dies. If God’s, then man uses the gift of freedom to deny himself and chooses to die daily. “All to thee my blessed Savior all to thee I freely give, ever watching ever waiting in His Presence daily live.“ Love has no death pangs, “where Oh death is your victory, where Oh death is your sting….He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” [1 Corinthians 15:55, 57] This is true FREEDOM!
