“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. “ [Colossians 1:27]

Revival is the expectation that times of refreshing shall come to God’s people and the promise that the Holy Spirit will distribute all manner of powerful gifts.  Actually these things are a means to an end.  The end is “that Christ would be formed in you” and the world that is going to hell in a hand basket might turn and be saved!  Every tree has a root and every root has a DNA that can only produce after its kind.  Once fully grown, it cannot pretend to be what it is not.  If the root is wrong, it cannot produce the life of Christ.

I often see things growing in my garden and I’m not quite sure if it is something I planted, a seed brought by the wind from someone else’s garden, or just a weed, a wild thing that spreads itself and mimics those things around it.  I wait because before the season is over, it will prove its identity and be burned up in the sun, dried up in the drought and finally removed. My concentration must be on tending to the “real fruit” of my garden — feeding, nurturing and removing unwanted growth and preparing the soil for new seed.

Life is simple in the garden and in the silence the whisper of God’s voice overcomes the roar of the world.  It is here the power of His presence forms His likeness in me.
