” …we possess this precious treasure in vessels of earth that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.” [2 Corinthians 4:7 AMP]

A few weeks ago Spring was making herself known with buds, pollen and new life everywhere, when suddenly I was awakened by the sound of the howling wind.  We had been reveling in sunshine and heat—this particular morning the wind had turned and true to nature’s unpredictability it blew and howled as the dead of winter.

Who can tell what the day will bring except the one who owns the day, knows the day and all that is within it.  The vicissitudes of weather do not determine the temperature of mans soul—he alone is the master of stoking the coals.

Do not allow your soul to blow hot and then cold—the flames of yesterday prove the tending and the heat of the fire is dependant upon the soul’s care.  The writer of Hebrews shares the secret to life living on the edge—there is an anchor within the soul from which streams strength to hold her steady.   “Now we have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope that reaches farther and enters into the very certainty of the Presence within the veil.” [Hebrews 6:19] Unlike temporal things the anchor holds it has an eternal bearing that never lacks nor leans on temporal things.
