And he said, about this season according to the time of life, thou shall embrace a son…” (2 Kings 4:16)

How difficult it is for the frailty of human reasoning to believe the impossible; to press in beyond the threshold; to allow the penetrating presence of God to reveal the hidden pain; heal the wounded soul, bring hope and resurrect a dream.

But God!  Knowing man’s frailty makes plain that nothing can thwart His plan.  What He has promised. He is well able to perform.  “God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it?  Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

“And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life”.  (2 Kings 4:17) There is a perfect time; a perfect season; when God Divinely intercedes in human affairs and pronounces His favor, He comes to prove nothing can separate us from His love.

Our God comes to us in the mystery of His Glory – His presence – the very essence of which He is.  He comes with enough love and efficacy of His Being to create that which isn’t and make it so.  Isn’t this too the story of Christmas… have you made room, have you made ready, for that which is prepared as a  perfect season to receive His Glory?
