“….then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”  [John 8:33]

STRENGTH, INTEGRITY, HUMILITY Character traits that affect not just the next election but influence the next generation.  We need to pause and peel back the meaning behind the words.

Humility is required not by the few but all,  “…all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another…” [1 Peter 5:5b] Like the fruit of the Spirit humility is seen in the context of relationships.  It was one of the characteristics that created a true team atmosphere among Jesus and His disciples.

Being humble is an act of obedience.   “Humble yourself under God’s mighty hand…” [1 Peter 5:6] Humility is birthed in the heart of integrity and reveals the truth that Jesus expressed when He said,  “By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgement is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.”  [John 5:30] Humility is not a matter of not thinking of oneself as having any value that would be an insult to the Cross of Calvary—humility just doesn’t think about self

Having the Presidency forced upon him not by popular demand but by process and personal availability, placed Gerald Ford in a position to bring restored order and  healing to national leadership.   I doubt you or I will ever find our self in such an influential office but wherever we are we have been placed there by God to influence and effect the next generation.  Each year brings loss for many people—but whatever was lost to the disciple of Christ resulted in strength, integrity and the understanding [humility] that life and purpose in God—is not about me—His purpose is to reveal His glory in all the earth!
