“As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” [John 15:19b]
Reaching your goal takes a direction that sometimes requires the pathway to be hidden by mist and unexpected circumstances—this too is God’s purpose. Knowing God is the goal which all paths and plans lead to and from. Intimacy with God is produced in times of unexpected curves and corners of life and it results in a people that know how to be in the world but not of it.
Although God’s plan and direction required David to write it down it didn’t mean Solomon had to do it all by himself. Allowing others with gifting and talents to fulfill God’s plan is sometimes the ‘sticking’ place of manifesting the kingdom of God. Man looks on the outward appearance but God knows the heart and in so knowing knows whom He has chosen to accomplish a task. Tasks that are accomplished through relationships, Jesus called it on-the-job training. In Mark 14 the disciples asked Jesus—what’s the plan—“Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
Seeking God’s goal results in receiving details for the plan and just like Jesus there will be times of coming apart, a place of being hidden from the world and all its distractions.
