”So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded” [Hebrews 10:35]

Eugene Price in the Message puts it this way—“So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then.  It’s still a sure thing!  But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.”

Confidence means assurance of mind, firm belief, trust or reliance—here are more ‘lights’ on how to recognize and avoid the pitfalls of allowing your confidence to wane.

  1. Engineering your own plan of action. Don’t respond like Sarah did to what God is saying when she said, ”…go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” [Genesis 16:2] You’ll end up giving away your best gift.  Receive God’s plan for your life and wait for Him to perform it.  Though the vision tarry…wait for it.
  1. 6. Following from afar. Like Peter [Mark 14:66-72] Draw near to God and receive the confidence that comes from knowing His love.
  1. Going along with the crowd. Like Judas did. Be one of a kind, you are unique by designed.  Even with odds of 450 to 1 with God Elijah was in the majority—so will you be.
  1. Fuzzy Focus. Confidence is lost when your focus goes fuzzy—single eyed commitment keeps your confidence on an even keel.  So maintain your fellowship with the Father and win the confidence game hands down!
