“But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.” [Job 5:17]
We have lived in a generation that leans into the ways of the world—enjoying freedom without restrictions and raising another generation that scoffs at authority. Without authority anarchy rules the day, the media proves it, leadership are blinded by it and sin rocks the nations. There are many that are called by the name ‘Christian’ whose lives are wrecked by sin and there is no real conversion of heart or transformation of soul.
Experiencing Spirit-filled living is manifested in those who do not despise the work of the Holy Spirit on the inner man, when correction is necessary like David they learn to pray. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”. [Psalm 139:23-24] This work is always painful, always brings humility and is always successful—it always brings cleansing, healing and freedom. It always brings growth and a JOY that is ‘otherworldly’.
Some may sneer, snicker or consider this joy hypocrisy—claiming it is pretension, they prove only that they have not yet known such love. Those who awaken to the secrets of the Kingdom know the JOY and yield to the Spirit to bring correction. To know the finger of God touching places within is to know a love that is willing to suffer, a love that does not despise the discipline but trust that God is removing all that would hinder His will and way in a heart sold out for Him.
