”Take us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines; for our vines have tender grapes.” [Song of Solomon 2:15]
This word came to mind the other day through a bee sting [wasp-yellow jacket]. It wasn’t so much the sting as where it was that became a lesson to be learned again. The sting was on my little toe! No big deal, but for a number of days and nights it burned and throbbed and seemed to be felt by every joint and ligament of my body!
As I listened the Holy Spirit reminded me how we are all ONE BODY; if part of that body is ‘stung’ the whole body feels the pain. “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it”. [1 Corinthians 12:26] The ‘sting’ comes when any part of the body is attacked, misunderstood, judged or mistreated. It becomes the ‘sting’ of death. In these last days we must be watchful and careful elsewise the body will devour the body and the pain becomes a self-inflicting judgement. Paul knew this when he said, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” [Ephesians 4:32] The ‘little toe’ when attacked by the ‘little foxes’ creates an imbalance and cripples the ability to walk uprightly. God intends for the body of Christ to become a beautiful bride without spot, blemish or wounds from little foxes. Remember, “It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.” [1 Corinthians 1:30] Don’t be guilty of ‘stinging’ the body you are part of!
