”Teacher…what must I do to inherit eternal life?”  [Luke 10:25b]

“Never allow a feeling which was stirred in you in the high hour to evaporate.  Don’t put your mental feet on the mantelpiece and say—“What a marvelous state of mind to be in!”  Act immediately, do something, if only because you would rather not do it.  If in a prayer meeting God has shown you something to do, don’t say—“I’ll do it”: do it!…” [Oswald Chambers]

Conversation with God will require thought and action—Jesus said to the law expert—“…How do you read it?” The man knew what was written but failed to activate what he knew…and so the conversation continues with a story revealing action—hands-on involvement—crossing the road, climbing into the ditch and caring enough to ‘do something’!

Then the man made a commitment to return to the scene to see what else was necessary—what’s the next level of growth and restoration?  Once a task is done—don’t put your mental feet on the mantelpiece and say—“I’ve done my part!  By all means slow down and ask ‘what’s next’ –write it down’ and just as you acted to initiate what God has shown in the beginning—let Him direct your steps for further action.
