We wait in hope for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.  In him our hearts, rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.  May your unfailing love rest upon us, O, Lord, even as we put our hope in you” (Psalm 33:20-22)

I’m not sure what time of day David actually wrote the Psalms, but I always assume it’s the early morning hours and when we read through them there is an on-going process of ascension until there is nothing but praise, even his questions fade away.  His praise becomes the stage for the day’s attitude and activity—you could say God’s miracle moment.

Between waking up and getting up there is a measure of time a ‘window’ that holds a secret of spiritual life and the most valuable gift.  Those moments when the entire day and the direction it takes rest upon a split second decision.  What our thoughts dwell upon at that moment will set the tone for the entire day.  It is the miracle of being able to praise as soon as the day dawns!

David had a secret and here’s a glimpse of it.  He anticipated  whatever he faced that day God would be with him.  He energized himself by rejoicing and he optimized his relationship through trust in the Name of the Lord.  David visualized victory through the power of God’s love upon him and he actualized his faith by rising up in hope.  Hope becomes the power of faith’s ability to believe and then to act!

Just think every morning we have this gift from God, it’s our choice that makes the day glorious or grueling—will you get up gracious or grumpy.  The choice is yours.  Look at this word from David.  “Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be—you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean”  (Psalm 32:1 The Message)  Choose Praise… it’s the power of ascension that will cause you to rise above every situation and master every moment through the miracle of God’s guidance.

Remember, “Today well-lived…makes every tomorrow a vision of Hope.”
