But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. [1 Corinthians 2:14]
Have you ever sat in the dawn of the morning and watched the sun creep over the horizon? Suddenly, the light shines and, in so doing, it reveals a large spider’s web that stretches across your pathway. Amazed, you realize that, just moments before, you could not see the web. It was as if it had been invisible. This new awareness is the power of morning light shimmering through the Word of God. When the light shines, it becomes living and penetrates into the reality of your world. What an awesome picture of Christ coming into our lives, shining His Light and giving us eyes to see what we could not see!
You glance again at the beauty of the spider’s web, almost mesmerized by the intricate weaving. You follow with your eye the circular pattern. Thoughts of God and eternity open your understanding.
We may hear and see many things in the natural. Many situations and ways of man may leave us pondering but the Lord says, “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God” (1 Cor. 4:5).
Therefore, we see the pattern once again when reading the scriptures: a) A command – “judge nothing,” b) A directive – “wait on God’s timing” and c) A promise – God will reveal what is hidden. That which you cannot see and that which you do not know will come to the light giving you understanding. From that intercourse with the Lord, you will bear the fruit of praise!
