"I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does." [John 5:19]

What exactly are we ‘seeing the Father doing’. Well for our ministry what we are seeing is a highly concentrated, intentional effort of making disciples—which means building relationships—one at a time!

We are living in a time and a nation where ‘bigger is better’ this theory is okay for my business, okay for my church, exactly what my group is looking for—at this same time—it is not okay to have ‘big government’. What is it that we are not seeing in this picture? What clue does this give us of where we went wrong in the growth process? Hitler wanted ‘big’ and it caused the death of 6 million Jews!

Life for God’s people, that is life in the kingdom, is grown by multiplication of relationships based on the Cross of Calvary. If those relationships are God governed and God guided then the growth process is full of self-denial and Holiness—groups regardless of size are living life in the context of a heavenly agenda where honor, virtue and purity of heart is valued. Taking care of our fellowman while allowing truth to track our attitudes and our actions.

Basing our understanding on the above statement our time in Niceville, Florida was according to God’s plan and purpose. We presented the Born To Serve material to several groups. Small groups designed to allow truth to sink into hearts prepared to hear from God and yield themselves to God’s agenda. What we experienced were people hungry for revival—In the local Baptist church we saw an altar full of those broken before God. And there was the awareness of many small groups in this area ALL DESIRING and praying for TRUE REVIVAL.

Everywhere we are hearing the same message—with Bill Hybels – its found in his latest book, "Just Walk Across the Room" – with Bruce Wilkinson its in his book, "You Were Born For This". The message is clear. Everyone everywhere is reminding us that our purpose here on this earth is to reach out and touch the lives of others with the love of God! We know the steps but we are lacking the power.

Our Born To Serve material is designed to help facilitators stay focused on what is necessary to be available for God’s assignments, those God moments in our everyday lives we call God moments when heaven takes a breath and angels join our ranks. They are opportunities to be a vessel fit for the Master’s use, to stand aside and watch a miracle happen.

Born To Serve is not a program—it initiates a process of telling the stories of what God is doing in the NOW—small groups, sharing in the fellowship of denying self and encouraging each other to stay with the goal of doing God’s Will.

It has nothing to do with gold dust, gold teeth, barking dogs, or laughing hyenas, or as I heard in Florida—a man who was ‘punching people in the stomach’ saying this was direction from the Holy Spirit.

What we see and desire is Almighty God, demonstrating His power through the Love of Calvary, meeting the needs of people. Changing hearts, saving souls, lifting spirits and making His presence known, when—"The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor." When we see the Father doing these things we will know that the remnant is surrendered and REVIVAL has come.

For this revival two things are necessary— One discernment. Only touching the Father’s heart and allowing the burden to break our hearts, only through suffering will our eyes open and empowered to see and hear from heaven. We have seen in part but we long for more. When our spirits are in total submission to God we become conduits of His compassion, in prayer we are no longer aware of self and in ministry He is free to minister His Grace.

Two, when discernment allows us to see and hear the agenda of heaven we must obey—every nudge, every impression, every Word spoken to us by the Spirit of God comes to us with an urgency to fulfill.

Sometimes it seems we are just crawling forward, inch by inch—momentary flashes of light and understanding coming to us by God’s mercy. His assurance is that He is dispatching His angels to minister to our needs. "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation" If we looked to the early church as an example of God’s ways then we must include the help of angels and we must expect a demonstration of His power!
