“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” [John 1:16]

One touch from Jesus and the power of grace empowers every person to receive whatever measure of grace for which the circumstances call.  Grace cuts all the strings that bind and hold people in bondage in this life.  Grace is the “bar” we live “in to” not “up to.”  Grace has been freely given and using grace simply releases greater grace to empower freedom:  “…but where sin abounded, grace abounded much more” [Romans 5:20].

A great example of grace is found in the story of the woman with the spirit of infirmity:  “But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity” [Luke 13:12].

One touch from Jesus and the power of truth and grace cut away the strings [infirmities] of her life.  These strings can be so ingrained in our thinking that they are the “old norm,” but once they have the touch of the Master they are broken.  The woman in the story was “made straight” by grace, her mind was renewed, and her body was re-aligned.  Her life was filled with God’s presence and shone for His glory.

So what were the “strings” in her story?  It seems she was set free from religion and legalism which were not only her adversaries, but the adversaries of God Himself.  It was the “much more” of God’s grace that cut the strings and allowed her to enter the rest of God’s new Sabbath!
