Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you” [1 Thessalonians 4:11]

Man is born with a level of ambition.  Without ambition man has no purpose and without purpose there is no hope.  However, ambition by definition means: An eager and sometimes inordinate desire after honor, power, fame, or whatever confers distinction.  This then, like all natural tendencies, deals with the motivations of the heart and must be disciplined and directed according to truth.

Ø             First…allow this ambition to lead you into a quiet life.  Rocking the boat does not bring positive change; it simply endangers the lives of those on board.  If change is necessary, quietly preparing and providing a plan will set the scene and influence the environment—so pray for a plan!

Ø             Second…mind your own business.  To use today’s vernacular—stay in your own space and leave other people alone.  Don’t try to fix them; they are not your problem; just find ways to be the solution—so pray for wisdom!

Ø             Third…know what your purpose in God is.  Do it with all your might and do it well.  Nobody can do what you do, like you do—it is God’s gift to you and your gift to mankind—so pray for purpose!

Remember…”In natural life we have ambitions and aims which alter as we develop; in the Christian life the goal is given at the beginning…Our Lord Himself” [Oswald Chambers]—so pray for His Presence!
