“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your mind and in your heat, so that you can do it” [Deuteronomy 30:14]
How many times have you been caught up in the ‘systems’ of the world? Probably every person can nod their head at least one time. It’s pervasive; it’s subtle and very persuasive.
Recently I was in the grocery store and as usual didn’t have much time. As I entered the store, the loud speaker was offering a free gift on a certain isle; I was going that way so off I went. I arrived to find many others standing there waiting, suddenly a young woman arrived and I asked, “are you going to try to sell me something”? It was a simple question with no intention of disturbance. She didn’t answer so I asked again, this time a little louder so that she quickly answered ‘yes’. I said thank you and moved on knowing my time was valuable. Almost finished with my shopping, I noticed the crowd still waiting for the gift while listening to the secular sales system.
After wandering around in the wilderness for 40 years God’s people were ready to ‘enter-in’ – to believe what they had heard and act upon what they believed. A belief system is that which governs your attitude and actions and thereby your life. After teaching them for so long Moses said, God’s word is not a secret thing, it’s not difficult to know, and it’s not so far off that you cannot apply it – I’ve taught you what to do; now you choose. “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction” [Deut. 30:15]
Which system are you living by – the world’s, or the ways of God? Move out of the wilderness and enter the promises of God. Keep moving, you have been taught; they are in your heart and mind; act upon that spiritual sales system.
