“…straining… I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me…”  [Philippians 3:13, 14]

Flowing in the Spirit of God is glorious but not without test and strain.  Paul had learned that the righteousness he once had was according to the law, now he says I know my righteousness is found in one place and that place is the presence of Jesus Christ!    He said this righteousness comes from God and is totally by faith. [Philippians 3:9] But how did he apply this faith?

How to press on when the strain becomes more than you can cope with, when you find yourself straining and unsure why.  Paul shared what he had discovered and said  “…we pray…you may have great endurance and patience…”.

First—Go back to Bethel…go back to the beginning…back to the call of God.  Pressing on means more endurance and revelation need to happen within—and God is the only one who can connect your need to His supply.

Second—Wait—be willing to wait patiently on God.  “In your patience possess your soul”  [Luke 21:19 NKJ] The soul is the space within you where only God has authority, it is the home of mind, will and emotion—everything within bows the knee and you become ‘centered’ in stillness and strength of His presence

Third—Love—Love is the power of patience, ”Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”  [ 1 Corinthians 13:4]  “It is impossible to be patient and proud because pride weakens into lust, and lust is essentially impatient.” [Oswald Chambers]
