So we rebuilt the wall … for the people worked with all their heart” [Nehemiah 4:6 NIV]

I had watered it, watched it grow and now the flowering climber was beautiful…but the trellis it was clinging to was weak and fragile and couldn’t handle the growth.  It needed a new and sturdier structure!

Just another lesson from the garden of life—a secret of life that grows and blossoms and so reveals the wisdom of God. Digging post holes was a strenuous task, but a great way to get the physical exercise the body needed.  Deep enough to give strength and wide enough for extra reach the fence also created a new boundary, bringing greater definition to the garden and surrounding property.

Left without the attention required the trellis would have collapsed and the beauty of the plant crushed at best and left to grow wild at worst.

Internal growth requires the same level of wisdom—personal integrity, strength of character these need the same careful observation and attention.  Spiritual life is governed by the same natural laws; life with all its activities needs the inner strength of a structure created by the life and presence of Christ.  Life is not only beautiful it is safe and secure restricted only by the wisdom of God.
