“Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” [Luke 2:49]

After what seems like a long season of health issues during which the whole world has lovingly advised me to stop, slow down, stop rushing about, rest, all of which coming from hearts of concern and willingly taken into consideration as wise counsel.   Then my doctor says, “Diane you are an active woman and we want you to stay active”!

Somewhere in the midst of it all, the key word is balance.  But the question is how to find the balance.

The Spirit of God will always get to the heart of the matter and that is ‘what is the motive of the heart’ whether resting or rushing about—why do we do what we do.

Then came the phone call from my elder brother – the natural one calling from Ireland and once again I heard the voice of, slow down, stop rushing about, rest, but, in addition he said, “Diane remember, I know you”.

The meaning behind the words brought the ‘why’ to the forefront.  What he meant was I know the stock from which you came.  We are a family of go-getters, ambitious, hard workers and never quitters.   The jolt brought the balance and the answer to the ‘why’.   In my heart is this truth,” I do what I do for the love of God”.   As the new creation the old is gone and God knows me.   I live a life of service unto God.  He holds the throttle to slow down, stop, or keep me from rushing about.  He knows the way I take and the desire of my heart.

If this is you this morning stop long enough to know the balance and the one that holds the throttle will organize your days from His perspective.
