“He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness! [Job 26:10]
Our call at DHM has been continually used in the Equipping, Encouraging, and Empowering of the Body of Christ. A missionary call that extends back to 1978 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
Simple but important is the truth that PURPOSE comes before CALL – if the call comes without thought to the purpose then there’s no alignment to the purpose – it is used by God but not God’s best for the person—destiny is at best detoured and at worst lost! “Each man has his own vocation the talent is the call. There is one direction where all space is open to him” –Waldo Emerson–
When you come to the edge of all the light you have and must take a step into the darkness of the unknown believe that one or two things will happen. Either there will be something solid for you to stand on or you will be taught how to fly –Patrick Overton.
This is a season when man must adapt and change – alter course for the one he is on has no goal in sight, the church has forgotten her identity, purpose and mission. It is the ecclesia, a community of people in whom the Lord still lives and is continually present.
Purpose opens the way to revelation and the revelation is the standard of acceptance to the call. What does that mean? It means unless our purpose is to know God through the revelation of Jesus Christ the world will offer very wonderful and alluring goals full of distraction and deceit—all in the name of God. The difference in being wise or unwise is the difference between believing in your head and knowing in your heart. Both are founded on the knowledge about Christ, one is religion, work oriented, driven to achieve and accomplish something FOR God. The other is relationship; worship centered lives that live IN Christ, a life moving in the power and the presence of God in His Holiness.
When Paul said, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” [Philippians 3:14] Paul revealed his call was a life of conviction – pressing forward – to know the purpose IN Christ. His was a life of commitment – pressing upward – to know the plan that would make Him known. It was a life of consecration – pressing inward – to know the passion of loving Him with all of his heart—reaching forward to develop Kingdom horizons. This is what making disciples is all about—equipping, encouraging, and empowering all to …..GO
We at DHM sit as a circle of believer’s listening and learning to love Him and this equips, encourages and empowers those who come to follow Christ, who whisper the words, ‘here am I send me’, to know where to follow Christ and when to follow His leading—this is mission.
The Body of Christ is rising up—not through the machinations of man’s institutions but through the unfolding purpose and plan God birthed and released in the passion of consecration to Jesus Christ. The heavens open and the blessing of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob flood the hearts and lives of instruments prepared as a residing and resting place of this Holy God who Himself is building His temple.
