“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” [Psalm 23:5]

From comfort and quietness in the valley to celebration in the banqueting hall—what a contrast and a reminder that regardless of the circumstances or the enemy roaring about—God is ever present and gives abundant provision and protection.

It is here in the scene of David’s intimacy with the Father that the security of God shines.  Sometimes we see Christians haltering in their ability to celebrate when darkness is all around.  Trouble looms and somehow God’s people get caught in the gloom and doom.  The protection of God is constant, as Elisha told his servant, “Don’t be afraid,…those who are with us are more than those who are with them…Then the Lord opened the servants eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”  [2 Kings 6:16-17]

Many desire the anointing and long for the provision and protection but it is those that seek God and dine with Him that carry the anointing.  David was a man after God’s own heart—a yielded man that thirsted after God and his servants’ heart received in abundance.

When you sit at His table—and dine for awhile, there’s provision prepared for every trial.  The test of the ages was won at the Cross a gift freely given that none would be lost.  Come celebrate His grace and abundant life and free yourself from the worry and strife.
