”God put the old plan on the shelf. And there it stays, gathering dust.”
[Hebrews 8:9 The Message]
There are times in our lives when we just have to ‘let go’ of what we thought God’s plan was and chase God, not the plan. The ‘old’ plan that God’s speaks of is what He Himself designed and used for a season! It was great then—it was all that was needed—it had become very comfortable—everyone was willing to conform to it—and didn’t necessarily ‘jump’ at learning or receiving a ‘new thing’.
Now we have a new plan and a new season—”The first plan contained directions for worship, and a specially designed place of worship” [Hebrews 9:1] The new plan is this, “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth, …those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.” [John 4:23-24 TM]
Worship is not a place, but the passion of the heart. Public worship proclaims what the inner passion pursues and reveals the old has gone the new has come. Public worship announces to the world that worship brings restoration through the revelation of God—Jesus Christ!
All that is new God gives through the heart of worship—creativity is the river that has cleared away the log jams of yesterday and rushes toward all that is promised for tomorrow.
