”…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”  [Hebrews 12:1b]

Having been in this race for a while there are certain principles that only time and hindsight has taught me, they become the signposts at every crossroad and basic to trusting the boundaries of God’s plan and purpose—here are five signposts.

  1. The call of God always finds direction in recognizing His Presence as the goal. Therefore, ”Trust in the Lord; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture”. You will be productive and protected.   God is able to protect those who are righteous – even in the midst of total world annihilation just as He did for Noah and his family.
  1. The changes of life come within the parameters of His original call. Therefore, ”Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” You will know God’s pleasure.  Your desire becomes the confirmation of your destination.
  1. The conforming of your will to His Will is uniquely designed to unfold step by step. Therefore, ”Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this”. You will know His plan for you.
  1. The real you—your identity will be evident. Therefore, ”He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn…”. You will be the authentic and unique person He has known since you were in your mother’s womb.
  1. The waiting room is your friend. Therefore,  “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…”.   Looking to others for direction is nothing short of disastrous and will bring detours rather than destiny.  You will know how patience perfects [matures] God’s plan and purpose.
