Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties.”  [Psalm 139:23]

We sing and proclaim the faithfulness of God and usually it’s in the context of receiving fulfillment of desire or promise, or long awaited answer to prayer, but what about His faithfulness in praying the prayer of David – search me!

The stress of this present age is definitely our natural response to the pressures all around us.  However when these pressures point and persuade us to fast and pray, God’s faithfulness will reveal why the pressure has found familiar ground within us.  Without the familiar ground inside the outside pressure has little effect on us.  When He searches us He reveals what’s growing inside that causes anxiety.

Here’s a tip: If you choose to fast and pray you can trust God’s faithfulness to reveal a section of the Kingdom within you where the land has not yet been cleared, a place where briars, thorns and weeds from old ways and patterns are growing.  When they are revealed it’s not God’s direction it’s God’s deliverance, give it up, get past the old way.  If it’s your way [the way you’ve always responded] then chances are it’s not God’s way; don’t go there, keep pressing in – pushing beyond the known brings peace and praise.  The land is cleared of underbrush making room for the fruit of righteousness.
