“At about that same time Jesus left the house and sat on the beach”  (Matthew 13:1 The Message)

Jesus sat down—He sat down on the beach—He sat down on the mountain side—He sat down at the village well until finally—He returned to Glory and sat down at the right hand of the Father.   All the time He was sitting down He was telling stories, in fact all He did that day was tell stories—it was a long story telling afternoon.

Why?—well that was the question the disciples asked, “Why do you tell stories?”  (Matthew 13:10 TM)  Listen to the answer this morning.  (Matthew 13:10-15 TM)

Create readiness—I need ready hearts, prepared to be part of God’s work in the world you live in.  Stories create sensitivity and set the scene for receptive hearts. “That’s why I tell stories to create readiness, to nudge the people toward receptive insight.”

InsightYou can receive insight and understanding.  The creator of the universe has given you the privilege and power to understand heavenly wisdom and practical application for your daily life. “But you have God—blessed yes—eyes that see! And God blessed ears—ears that hear…” Without readiness, in their present state, Jesus said—they can stare till doomsday and not see it—they can—listen till they’re blue in the face and not get it.”

You are chosenThis is a special gift not given to everyone—“You know how it works.  Not everybody has this gift, this insight…”  you are chosen to work with God in preventing history from repeating itself. “I don’t want Isaiah’s forecast repeated all over again.”

Now He has returned and sat down at the right hand of His Father—He has left you to be the story teller, to receive the insight of heavenly wisdom and to live the life of those called and chosen. “But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”  (1 Peter 2:9 TM)

Today listen to His story and share it!
