“ He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel”  [Psalm 103:7]

The people of Israel knew the deeds of God and they died in the wilderness!  Moses knew the ways of God and God called him friend  ”The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend…” [Exodus 33:11] Don’t chase the good and miss the best—it takes time with God to know the ways of God.  The signs of our times seem to see life in a blur as everything rushes past–everything is deemed more important than being alone with God.

Even the recent ‘revival signs’, the sudden touch of God, cannot compare to being His friend.  Nothing holds the hand to the plough, the eye to the Cross or the heart to the vision, as hearing the words …   …I call you friends!  Reading what is written is not revelation—knowledge is not the same as knowing.  Before us is a future all unknown, a path untrod; beside us a friend well loved and known—that friend is God.

Peter gives us five reflection of being His friend.  1) Humility ”Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand..”  2) Freedom   “Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you”.  3) Balance ”Keep a cool head…  4) Alertness  ”The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping keep your guard up.”   5) Firm faith ” So keep a firm grip on the faith.  The suffering won’t last forever…. “
