unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain”    –John 12:24

This is a promise of not just some increase but MUCH MORE!  Remember the old saying, “no free lunches”?  Well, it hasn’t changed.  Everything costs!  If you do something or if you do nothing, it always costs.

But this is Jesus talking.  What is He saying about the process of life, paying the price and gaining more?

  1. Jesus didn’t have any judgment. That was the Father’s task.  All Jesus had was Love.  “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn [judge] the world…” (John 3:17).
  1. Love always gives, never takes but willingly buries judgment (condemnation).  ”And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of  sins” (1 Peter 4:8).
  1. Love always yields to the higher purpose – the bigger picture – the benefit of all.  “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34).
  1. When love is given, someone suffers; when love is hoarded, someone dies. When love refuses to love, it is no love, for love is designed as a gift to be given.

There are only two ingredients that surrounded the life of Christ: our judgment and His love.  He bore our judgment and in its place the gift He gave was love and love grew!  There is a pattern to follow if we want more.  ”Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom…”  (Luke 6:38).  When it is given, Love that grows is never deserved.  It doesn’t deny judgment; it replaced judgment.  It replenishes the heart, restores the soul and is multiplied back to the giver.
