”…at the Lord’s command…” [Numbers 33:2a]

You only have to live for a short while to know man does not and cannot control or even predict with accuracy the weather patterns.  While some say we’re heading for an ice age, others loudly proclaim global warming.  Only Christ ever commanded and all creation bowed.

There are just some things in life that help us understand that God is Sovereign.  Sovereignty requires submission to our ‘higher authority’.  As the old saying goes, you can beat your head against a brick wall until ‘you get it’, your brains are addled and you accept the fact you are not in control – God is!

As Moses was writing down the stages of their journey he must have been remembering the scene of death that was all around them – the old place, the old way, the old wine skin.  When God gets ready to move, those old things, things are permeated with death and holding onto the way it has always been, or the way it was done before, will crumble like dust in your hands.

Stages of growth are held in the hand of the Master.  Every new mother knows to bring forth life every member of the body yields in submission, and joy is heard throughout the household.

Stages of growth are always built upon what was, what is and what is to come.  But never bound by the bondage of yesterday or blocked by the unknown of tomorrow.  When there is submission to God’s Sovereignty the way forward is bold and balanced.
