“Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it” [Philippians 3:15]

Ever wonder what the first thing man had trouble with as a result of his disobedience or what track he began to lay as a replacement for himself?  When we re-align that track we can ‘stay on the right track’.

After the separation from the Garden of Eden, “Time passed; Cain brought an offering to God from the produce of his farm.  Abel also brought an offering, but from the firstborn animals of his herd, choice cuts of meat.   God liked Abel and his offering, but Cain and his offering didn’t get his approval.  Cain lost his temper and went into a sulk.” [Genesis 4:3-5 The Message] Cain had a bad attitude!

Abel knew the system of sacrifice required blood.  So did Cain, but he thought he knew better, but that wasn’t the problem.  The problem came with Cain’s response to hearing the truth, he had a – bad attitude.  Pride refusing to repent resulted in Cain’s bad attitude and set into action his desire to murder.

The first track to staying on track is not getting everything ‘right’ but maintaining a Christ-like attitude.  God the Father knows best.   He gave Christ, the blood sacrifice, for when we get it wrong [sin].  We are responsible for laying down our pride and staying on track with the correct attitude.  “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus; Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”  [Philippians 2:5 NIV]
