“…He…gave me a firm place to stand…He put a song in my mouth…” [Psalm 40:2]

Every move of God will lead you to higher ground—when you step up you will always ‘sing out’!

There is freedom and music when you are moving forward.  The Israelites knew this when they ‘passed through on dry ground’, “And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground” [Exodus 14:22] They had firm footing—the prophet Habakkuk said – “He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights…”  Even in the rocks and ragged places feet like deer are well balanced, and as you go there will be a song in your heart.

At the ‘stepping up’ place Miriam led the people in singing – ”Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously…”[Exodus 15:21]  David reaches millions with songs he sang as he journeyed to higher ground.  “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.  Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”

If you wonder where the witness is—that’s it—moving forward—willing to wait for God—willing to watch for God—willing to change for God—willing to go His way—willing to step up to higher ground—and willing to sing the songs of redemption–that’s the witness.

Remember:  “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”  [Pericles]
