“When your words came, I ate them; they were joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty” [Jeremiah 15:16]
Usually at Christmas time the whole family expects me to make ‘Strawberry Delight’, a very yummy desert dish. It’s a family tradition and we all know how important that is! So what’s your ‘delight’? What pleases you or gives you great enjoyment?
We can all name the natural things that stir our hearts to natural joy, but what of the spirit? God’s supernatural joy transcends all other ‘delights’ and it comes through chewing His promises.
I remember the days when our granddaughter would sit at the table and hold the food in her mouth and her mother would have to say, ”Ava – chew and swallow”, mainly because she didn’t care for the taste or texture of that particular food.
Here’s a promise …God’s word when chewed and swallowed brings great JOY! Sometimes looking at Christians you would think they swallowed a frog! Billy Sunday said, “If you have no joy in your religion, there’s a leak in your Christianity somewhere” or maybe you have missed a few meals.
I remember the old song: Come and dine the master calleth come and dine. You can feast from my table all the time. He who fed the multitudes, turn the water into wine, Come and dine the Master calleth come and dine! There’s always an open invitation to His table.
