”…straining to what is ahead…I press on…”  [Philippians 3:13-14]

Do you ever feel like you’ve taken three steps forward and two back?  It happens to all of us.  It is not easy to keep moving forward and ‘pressing on’ when there’s such a drag of negativity pulling from behind.  In some sense the process is slow in man’s thinking, but like the old adage of the turtle – he only makes progress when he sticks his neck out! You are the change agent that God empowers; you work out what God has worked into your heart.

One day Elijah was in the palace – in the presence of King Ahab speaking words of prophecy to convict a nation. [1 Kings 17:1} Then change came–”…Leave here…”  God gave new direction.  This new beginning found him living as a pauper, totally dependent on God’s provision through the ravens.   In this new place God was preparing the heart of Elijah, until he was humble enough to obey the next direction’.

”Go at once to Zarephath…”.  Don’t dilly-dally around… just go at once!  This change was to ask for help from a widow woman living in hopelessness.  The first step is man’s choice, but by the time his foot hits the ground the power of God takes over.

Changes are all about fulfilling God’s plan for a nation while preparing man’s heart to be able to stand in his individual destiny. Every step, every new direction is crucial to fulfilling God’s plan.  Elijah’s obedience placed him in the position to bring help in a hopeless situation and paved the way for him to be a vessel of life in the place of death.

Wherever you are this change means God is preparing you for the next ‘new beginning’!
