“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. Let your requests be made known to God” [Philippians 4:6]
“The children are dressed and ready for school. But there is no food for them to eat,” the housemother of the orphanage informed George Mueller. George asked her to take the 300 children into the dining room and have them sit at the tables. He thanked God for the food and waited. George knew God would provide food for the children as he always did. Within minutes, a baker knocked on the door. “Mr. Mueller,” he said, “last night I could not sleep. Somehow I knew that you would need bread this morning. I got up and baked three batches for you. I will bring it in. “Soon, there was another knock at the door. It was the milkman. His cart had broken down in front of the orphanage. The milk would spoil by the time the wheel was fixed. He asked George if he could use some free milk. George smiled as the milkman brought in ten large cans of milk. It was just enough for the 300 thirsty children.
I love the stories about George Muller who is well known for the great work of establishing orphanages in Wales – the land of my father. Muller trusted and was totally dependent on God.
In this land of plenty the temptation is always to do things in a logical and seemingly ‘natural’ way. Put out feelers, search the web – use whatever system man has devised. But it’s not the best way….
For about a year I have been preaching the Word of God on The Weaver’s Shuttle radio program every Sunday on WCDG 88.7 FM in Dahlonega at 12:30 p.m. Recently I was impressed to pray about increasing the outreach, no promotion, no solicitation we have simply prayed! Praise God just this week the door has been opened with an invitation to broadcast our program in Kenya!
The faith of God grows with confidence when there is total dependency on Him. It requires waiting on Him, but proves the reality and faithfulness of the God that goes before us to prepare and provide the way. Glory to God! What He has designed He accomplishes.
