“Blessed happy fortunate, to be envied is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.” [Proverbs 8:34 AMP]
How many times have you prayed and thought the heavens seemed like brass, no answer came, no understanding was given? What is the missing link to answered prayer? The writer of Proverbs gives us some clarity, especially when it’s read in the amplified bible. Three words of wisdom are gleaned from this verse.
The gateway is the threshold, the starting point of prayer. Earlier in his writings the preacher said, “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge it’s starting point and its essence…” [Proverbs 1:7]
We enter in with an attitude of ‘fear of the Lord’ the awe of God which is; Adoration—Worship—Enlightenment. Those enlightened know this starting point of prayer is not about what man thinks, but what God thinks. Not groveling and complaining, but rather grace and glory.
Watching daily: Whatever our requests we are listening first to what God says – the Word of wisdom from heaven will match the need on earth and praying the word becomes the power of agreement. You have found the missing link!
Waiting at the threshold: Today’s world does not easily give the opportunity to ‘wait’. It is something we have to intentionally schedule, but if we are in awe of God we will be intentional. We will schedule time for His word of wisdom to connect with our need. He will give you the Word to pray – the missing link is His Word not ours. Waiting brings the blessing and in praying His Word our prayers are answered.
