“Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or Lo there! For, behold the kingdom of God is within you.” [Luke 17:21]
How sad and foolish to look for something when you have no idea what it looks like! But for those seeking Him Jesus drew word pictures, told stories, brought shape, color, size and the atmosphere of the kingdom alive for us so that we might recognize and know when we have found it.
The pathway to the Kingdom will not be found in theological studies, constant searching of scriptures, intellectual arguments, the detailed outline of a seminary student or a three point sermon. The gateway is too narrow to pass through with head knowledge and book learning, too small to handle educational degrees, creative gifting or talent trained and performed with great finesse. “The kingdom suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” [Matthew 11:12] Any man who has waged the battle of integrity in his heart knows the truth that man against God must yield to the power of the Holy Spirit; lay-down all self-will, earthly treasures and surrender.
The Kingdom is found as a heart seeks to know Him, those who hunger and will pay the price to enter-in through the narrow way. Those who like the camel having reached his destiny will lower himself to his knees roll his burden from his back and lie in the dust at the narrow gate. There is no ‘cheap grace’ entrance fee into God’s kingdom. To humble oneself is the great gift of the Holy Spirit, He alone is the power to travel the pathway, enter into the narrow way and know the joy and jewels of the Kingdom.
