For the Lord God is a sun and shield, ….” [Psalm 84:11]

What is your need and what are you receiving from God this morning?  This verse was one of the first that the Spirit slipped into my heart as a rhema word [living word].  Prioritize this morning.  Let the practical needs take second place and you’ll find a storehouse of treasure you never dreamed possible.  This week we’ll look at this entire verse and the awesome promises it holds.  They are life changing, life giving gifts that hold the totality of need for His people.

First, God says He is a sun.  Meditate for a moment.  Without the sun we would be in continual darkness.  In darkness is only death, a shivering coldness and unending emptiness.   But to have the sun is to have light.  In the light is life.  Constant colors, shades, and even the shadows are a blessing.  With the sun is warmth, contentment, kindness and a certain rest and sense of fullness.  In the fullness of the sun, the Lord says, “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places,  that you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, am the God of Israel” [Isaiah 45:3].

Second, God says He is a shield.  A shield protects from all danger; it is an enemy stopper.  It will cause the flaming darts of the evil one to bounce back from whence they came.  The battle weakens but a shield strengthens.  It gives confidence and freedom to advance.

Receive the sun and shield this morning.  Have a day of peace and prosperity!
