You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there.  But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you…” [John 5:39 The Message] “[Acts 1:26]

I sit staring at the computer screen reading a verse that I came to know many years ago and I remember.  I understand that in all walks of life people are searching for whatever is real—and with it come the questions—why am I here, what’s it all about, why isn’t it working?  I remember thinking ‘why suddenly’ do the ordinary circumstances of life seem more than I can cope with, what at one time was trivial is now a mountain of immovable obstacles?  Back behind the questions came the ‘pat answers’—seek God, pray, find a promise, claim the word, and think God thoughts!

But the words are just words and without something external coming to the rescue the tension provide its own escape, numbness begins to creep around the corners of your heart, denial becomes opium keeping the pain at bay and you keep going!

In-spite of all self-sufficiency my heart cried out—God help me–. “I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain; Yet surely my just reward is with the Lord, And my work with my God.” [Isaiah 49:4] Like a great dam whose wall of defense can no longer hold or control the external pressure, the wall crumbles, the tension gives way to something greater than self and I heard the words—here I am, standing right before you!

When we are standing face to face with Jesus, and He says, “Believest thou this?”  Our faith is as natural as breathing, and we say—‘Yes, Lord,’ and are staggered and amazed that we were so stupid as not to trust Him before.” [Oswald Chambers]

If weariness is creeping in this morning –cry out to God—you’ll find Him standing there.
