“He holds victory in store for the upright” [Proverbs 2:7]
I was outside enjoying the early morning stillness when suddenly our little house wren came out of her nest, perched on the deck railing and began to sing. What a moment of enchantment it was. She lifted her head, opened her mouth and her whole body released the sweetest sound, filling the earth with God’s glory!
I was reading the end of the story of Joseph and his many years of trial and trouble. It was the moment in his life when he had to face his brothers, the very instigators of the way his life had evolved. It could have been a moment of great pain and wrath, but Joseph had God’s perspective.
To look at the circumstances or the people involved in the pain of personal journey would destroy life and the plan God has for His kingdom work. Joseph had God’s perspective – “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives”. The journey had been difficult and painful, but Joseph had learned …God was with him and God’s perspective is always mercy and forgiveness that reveals His higher purpose. God has an agenda and nothing can thwart it, the power is forgiveness through His blood. The plan was to save as many lives as possible not just Joseph’s family.
Forgiveness is not an act but an attitude. The work of forgiveness was accomplished on the Cross. The walk of forgiveness is a lifestyle that is produced by having God’s perspective and that always sings the song of VICTORY!
