”Seven days you shall wait, till I come to you and show you what you should do.” [1 Samuel 10:8b]
Seven, the number of fullness, the perfect moment. Whatever the waiting time, in God’s hand it is perfect!
He is neither a moment too soon nor a day too late, so resist the temptation to act within your own time frame. ”For you shall not go out with haste… For the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” [Isaiah 52:12]
Only God can be before you and behind you at the same time. Both provision and protection requires waiting; too soon you may find provision but no protection. Too slow may mean you miss the provision. Stay on God’s timetable.
How do you know ‘perfect time’? The faith of God will infuse your soul. You find you have acted not hastily but without hesitancy. You’ve spoken almost without thought, but your words were words of wisdom. There is no doubt; every fear has been replaced by faith and faith acts!
The waiting Christian knows the reality that”…in your patience possess you your souls”. [Luke 21:19] Peace is the hallmark of waiting faith and God’s timing is perfected in peace. It never pushes but is full of gentle persuasion, and bears much fruit.
