“But we have the mind of Christ the Messiah and do hold the thoughts and feelings and purposes of His heart” [1 Corinthians 1:16b]
Maybe it was just a thought, or maybe you actually communicated the following words in response to a situation; “I would like to give him/her a piece of my mind.” The response to that is …go ahead, sooner or later you won’t have any mind left since you’ve given it all away.
On the other hand thinking with the mind of Christ allows the communication process to become a stream of unfolding the truth.
Even when others are saying, “Has he or she lost her mind? What must she/he be thinking” What we may have is the mind of Christ colliding with human reasoning.
It’s a probability Jesus was accused of the same thing by His own family. Jesus was speaking to the people when His family showed up, “Some said to Him, Listen! Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak to You, but He replied…who is My mother, and who are My brothers? We can only surmise what their response to His words would have been …maybe, “have you lost your mind?” Human reasoning will never be in unity with the mind of Christ.
So what’s the ‘missing link’? The missing link is in the understanding that the mind of Christ flows through the Spirit. He works in and through the spirit before renewing the mind. He does not come through the reasoning of human thinking. God’s communication often looks odd and often is not understood or misunderstood by those standing around.
What’s the answer? Both the speaker and the listener must submit to the mind of Christ before the communication becomes a positive power in the lives of all those involved.
